Student Visa Guidance Disclaimer
Before accessing any visa-related guidance from UNICONS, you must acknowledge that such guidance is general and informational only, that UNICONS is not a regulated immigration adviser, and that visa decisions rest solely with the relevant government authority.
1. Purpose and Scope of This Disclaimer
This Student Visa Guidance Disclaimer ("Disclaimer") governs any visa-related guidance, information, or support materials provided by LOPEX UNICONS LTD (trading as UNICONS) to students accessing the UNICONS platform.
This Disclaimer applies to all visa-related content provided by UNICONS, whether delivered through the Platform, by email, via video call, in writing, verbally by a UNICONS counsellor or agent, or through any other communication channel.
By acknowledging this Disclaimer, you confirm that you have read and understood its contents and that you accept its terms before accessing any visa-related guidance provided by UNICONS.
This Disclaimer should be read alongside the Student Terms and Conditions, the Student Privacy Notice, and the Student Declaration of Accuracy.
2. Nature of Visa Guidance Provided by UNICONS
2.1 General and Informational Only
Any visa-related guidance, information, checklists, templates, document lists, timeline estimates, or other materials provided by UNICONS are for general informational and educational purposes only. They are intended to help you understand the general process involved in applying for a student visa and to assist you in preparing documentation typically required.
This guidance does not constitute:
- Legal advice
- Immigration advice regulated under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 or the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) regulatory framework
- A formal assessment of your personal circumstances, immigration history, or eligibility
- A guarantee or prediction of the outcome of any visa application
2.2 Information Is General in Nature
Visa requirements, processes, fees, processing times, documentation requirements, and policies are subject to change by government authorities without notice. The information UNICONS provides reflects our understanding of general requirements at the time of communication, but may not reflect the most current rules, policy changes, or individual case-specific requirements.
2.3 No Individual Assessment
UNICONS does not carry out individual immigration assessments. The guidance provided takes no account of your specific immigration history, personal circumstances, outstanding immigration issues, criminal record, or any other factor that may be material to an individual visa application. You must verify your individual eligibility and requirements directly with the relevant authority or a qualified adviser.
3. UNICONS Is Not Regulated as an Immigration Adviser
3.1 OISC Registration
UNICONS is not registered or authorised by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) to provide regulated immigration advice or services. The OISC is the statutory body that regulates immigration advisers in the United Kingdom under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
Under UK law, providing immigration advice or services for profit or reward by a person who is not authorised (either by registration with the OISC or through being a qualified solicitor, barrister, or other exempt person) is a criminal offence under section 91 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. UNICONS does not provide regulated immigration advice and does not charge students for any visa guidance it makes available.
3.2 What This Means for You
Because UNICONS is not an OISC-registered adviser, it cannot:
- Advise you on the merits of a visa application or your chances of success
- Represent you before UKVI or any immigration authority
- Advise you on appeals, administrative reviews, or judicial reviews of immigration decisions
- Advise on your immigration status, rights, or entitlements in the UK
- Assess the impact of your immigration history on a visa application
- Prepare or submit a visa application on your behalf in a professional advisory capacity
3.3 When You Need Regulated Immigration Advice
You are strongly encouraged to seek regulated immigration advice from an OISC-registered adviser or a qualified solicitor in any of the following circumstances:
- You have previously been refused a UK visa or a visa to any other country
- You have previously been subject to deportation, removal, or been refused entry at the UK border
- You have overstayed a previous UK visa or breached any conditions of leave
- You have a criminal record or are subject to any criminal proceedings
- You have concerns about your eligibility or about the impact of your personal circumstances on your application
- You are applying under complex visa categories or where your case involves exceptional circumstances
- You are making a visa appeal or administrative review application
A list of OISC-registered advisers is available on the OISC website at www.gov.uk/find-an-immigration-adviser. Many universities also provide free immigration advice through their international student advisory services.
4. Visa Decisions Rest Solely with Government Authorities
4.1 UK Student Visa
For students applying to study in the United Kingdom, the relevant visa category is typically the UK Student Visa (formerly the Tier 4 Student Visa), administered by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), a division of the UK Home Office.
All decisions on UK Student Visa applications are made exclusively by UKVI and its appointed Entry Clearance Officers. UNICONS has no authority over, no influence upon, and no ability to predict or guarantee the outcome of any UKVI visa decision.
4.2 Other National Visa Authorities
Where students are applying to institutions outside the UK, the relevant visa decisions are made by the immigration authorities of the destination country. UNICONS accepts no liability for the requirements, processes, or decisions of any non-UK immigration authority.
4.3 UNICONS' Role in Visa Documentation
In certain circumstances, UNICONS may assist you in understanding what documents are typically required for a UK Student Visa application, and may signpost you to official government resources. Where a Partner Institution issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), UNICONS may assist you in understanding how to use that CAS in your visa application. This assistance is administrative in nature and does not constitute immigration advice.
5. Limitation of UNICONS' Liability for Visa Matters
5.1 No Liability for Visa Refusals
UNICONS accepts no liability whatsoever for:
- The refusal or rejection of any visa application, whether for a UK Student Visa or any other visa
- Any costs, expenses, or financial losses incurred as a result of a visa refusal, including application fees, tuition fees paid, accommodation deposits, travel costs, or any other expenditure
- Any delay in the processing of a visa application or in the issuance of a decision by a government authority
- Any loss of academic opportunity, deferred enrolment, or missed intake resulting from a visa delay or refusal
- Any consequences for your immigration status in your home country or country of residence arising from a UK or overseas visa refusal
5.2 No Liability for Reliance on General Guidance
UNICONS accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or adverse outcome arising from your reliance on any visa-related guidance, information, or materials provided by UNICONS. This includes, without limitation:
- Reliance on indicative document checklists that prove incomplete or outdated
- Reliance on estimated processing times that prove inaccurate
- Reliance on descriptions of visa requirements that have since changed
- Reliance on information about financial thresholds, English language requirements, or eligibility criteria
5.3 No Liability for Third-Party Advice
UNICONS accepts no liability for the accuracy, completeness, or consequences of advice or information provided by third parties, including OISC advisers, solicitors, immigration consultants, or government websites, to whom UNICONS may have signposted you.
5.4 Student's Own Responsibility
You are ultimately responsible for:
